Brett Garamella is an American photographer and documentary filmmaker whose work blends cinematic style with deep immersion in the people and places he photographs. His imagery has been commissioned by National Geographic, ESPN, DJI, PBS, PolarPro, Roc Nation, Nike’s Drew League, Light & Motion, Slam Magazine, Spin Magazine, and a wide range of global brands and publications.

He has photographed and filmed recognizable figures across sports and culture, including Michael Jordan, Manny Pacquiao, LaMelo Ball, Lonzo Ball, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Muslim Salikhov, Magomed Ankalaev, and Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev among many others.

Brett’s personal projects take him far from traditional sets. He’s spent years photographing Cuba’s master tobacco farmers, documenting Colombia’s high-altitude coffee growers, building a portrait series across India, and living among MMA fighters and wrestlers in Dagestan as part of his ongoing documentary project Dagestan Diaries. His work is driven by curiosity, respect, and a commitment to portraying people with honesty and dignity.

As a director, Brett’s award-winning short film The Champion qualified for an Academy Award. Beyond his documentary work, he teaches thousands of creators through workshops and courses on photography, drones, filmmaking, editing, and creative business.

Today, Brett is developing new long-form documentary and photography projects while continuing to collaborate with select brands that value authentic, cinematic storytelling. He also leads a limited number of cinematic expeditions for people who want to experience real, on-the-ground storytelling in the field.
